I am really pleased to see Ken standing up for Londoners over rising transport fares. Increases in fares adversely impact on people’s economic well being, particularly for poorer sections of our community. Boris Johnson’s plans for a 6% hike in fare costs, at a time when many are facing a decline in the real value of their incomes, will hit Londoners hard. Ken’s new fares plan will save travellers £1,000 over four years. A key part of my “One Tower Hamlets” Community Plan is to tackle poverty. That’s why I am supporting Ken’s Fare Deal for Londoners on transport.
